So, you want to know what this is all about, hm? Well, you’re at the right place to find out.
Having this idea verified and approved by several reliable sources (one being the author), I have decided to traverse into very unknown territory and turn the ever-lovely Waffles’ Portal fanfiction into an audiofic. Or at least, I have decided that I would like to, and I would like very much to make this dream of mine happen - but, and this sounds fairly cliché but I mean it this time - I need your help. I don’t want this to be “just another podfic.” I need voice actors. I need someone who can do sound effects, someone who can tweak peoples’ voices and make them sound like turrets and GLaDOS. I need someone to help with edits and cuts and someone to tell me when it’s time to go to bed.
Right now this sounds impossible, but it’s not, especially with the talent we’ve got in this fandom. For those of you who do think with portals but are not aware of the amazing piece of literature that is Blue Sky, you can find it on FanFiction.net here and on Livejournal here. The basis of it is that it’s a Human!Wheatley/Chell fic, but it’s oh so much more than that. It is not only in character. It fleshes them all out, makes them more than they once were, shows the human side to Portal. It has angsty scenes, happy scenes, dramatic scenes, apologising scenes, dance scenes! It is all that could ever be wanted in a fanfic and I doubt that anything will ever be able to top it. Not only do I highly recommend reading this if you are a Portal fan or Chelley shipper, I recommend it if you’re neither! It really is just brilliant and is, of course, the reason I am starting this project in the first place.
Besides the cast, I’ll need (first and foremost) one or two co-producers who can help me out. I’m usually the one in the odd timezone (9:00+ GMT, Tokyo time) so I need someone to cover the other half of the world when I’m asleep. I’m also searching for a skilled autotuner who can edit GLaDOS’s voice as well as the other robots (turrets and the like). Anyone who can properly cut and edit audio would be very much desired, but if worst comes to worst I can do that myself. Most importantly, I need someone with a large range of sound effects - whirring, dog barks, thumps, twangs, clonks, whatever - at their disposal who can add these to the original soundtrack - because this is a Portal-based podfic. There are going to be a <i>lot</i> of sound effects. Oh, and bits of songs.
